Ringier Vietnam
Ringier Vietnam is the Vietnamese office of Ringier AG, a family-owned Swiss media company with over 175 years of history. It is the largest media corporation in Switzerland. Ringier AG has expanded in the last two decades to include offices in Germany, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, China and Vietnam. I began my career with Ringier in 2005 when I was recruited as managing editor of City Weekend. I now manage the Ringier Vietnam office. Below are some of the projects I manage.
ELLE (“The World’s Largest Fashion Magazine”) – Licensed, developed, recruited and trained team and produced ELLE magazine in Vietnam – the 43rd intl’ edition of ELLE. ELLE is the first intl’ fashion magazine to launch in Vietnam and is now the no. 1 fashion magazine in Vietnam with a total circulation of 20,000 copies each month. To comply with Vietnamese media regulations and laws, Ringier Vietnam partnered with the Hanoi Women’s Entrepreneur Association to successfully apply and a gain an exclusive magazine license for ELLE. The magazine features roughly 35 percent intl’ vs. local content and features such premium brands as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Rolex, Omega, Estee Lauder, Shisheido and Lancome as advertising partners in Vietnam.
Thoi Trang Tre (“New Fashion” magazine) – Manage sales and marketing and provide design and editorial consultation for Vietnam’s first glossy women’s fashion magazine. Thoi Trang Tre launched in 1993 and was redesigned with Ringier support in late 2008 as a mass-market women’s weekly. You’re looking at their 2010 “Tet special.”
Bep Gia Dinh (“Family Cooking” magazine) – Redesigned and relaunched as Vietnam’s first mass-market family cooking and nutrition magazine. Together with its local Vietnamese partner, Ringier manages all aspects of publishing. In less than six months, Bep Gia Dinh became Vietnam’s highest sold family cooking magazine, according to Trung Phat Distribution Co. Bep Gia Dinh’s website – The largest directory and the only community-powered recipe website in Vietnam – is also the no. 1 recipe website in Vietnam.
Marry.vn (“The Largest Community and Directory of Wedding Shops in Vietnam”) – Launched Marry.vn, an online wedding planner. Marry.vn is based on The Knot.com concept, a network of women’s special interest websites. Ringier Vietnam launched Marry in August 2010. Three months later, Marry.vn became Vietnam’s largest wedding-related website with over 100,000 unique visits a month (projected to rise to 450,000 by mid 2011). Marry.vn is also the first original brand under Ringier Vietnam and will serve as the foundation for Ringier’s own digital special interest life network. MarryHOME is the only site in Vietnam dedicated to supporting new families with personal finance, home life, home renovation, decor and more. MarryBABY is the largest directory of family business listings and user-shared baby photos in Vietnam. All Marry sites follows IAB advertising standards and are built on Drupal CMS.
Ringier Vietnam will launch several more projects in 2011. Stay tuned.
